"Zuleykha '' is a 2 Acts multidisciplinary operatic work, in Farsi language presenting the inner journey of the Biblical female character "Zuleykha", who was known as Potiphar’s wife and has been regarded as a sinner and seducer of Prophet Joseph. Although she was considered as a sinner in many religious texts, this opera presents her from a different perspective, depicting her life and challenges she had to overcome as a female in a male dominant society.
A combination of history and fiction, and incorporating Eastern poetry of so many great mystic philosophers, this opera invites the audience to understand mysticism and spirituality, self- love, acceptance, and strength.
We are hoping to fully stage this work in 2024-25
Based on Aeschylus’ Hikétides (c. 460 BCE),
The Refugees is an uncannily contemporary opera about the rights of refugees, the duties of democratic states, and the complexities of international humanitarianism—told from the perspective of a chorus of exiled women.
